Another electricity consumption record in Hungary
Hungary's current electricity consumption record was broken due to the cooling weather that began on Thursday - MTI reported, based on the information provided by MAVIR Hungarian Independent Transmission Operator Company Ltd. According to verified data, on Thursday, 11 February 2021, between 17:45 and 18:00, the system load reached 7119 MW, a historic record. The previous peak, 7105 MW, was registered on 5 December 2019 by the system operator.
MTI also wrote about the fact that among the EU member states, Hungarians pay the least for electricity. According to the comparison of the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (HEA), in January 2021 electricity was the cheapest in Hungary in the EU. The price of electricity has been the lowest in Hungary for 16 months. In Vienna, which rejects nuclear energy, consumers pay 2,1 times more and in Germany 3,25 times more the price than in Budapest.
End-user prices were compared by HEA on the basis of data from service providers and regulatory authorities - the news agency informed.
